Sun Ten Premium Cooked Rehmannia & Rehmannia Combinations

Cooked Rehmannia is the prepared root of the plant Rehmannia glutinosa (Gaertn.) Libosch. (Fam. Scrophulariaceae).  It is mainly cultivated in Henan (河南) Province, China.  Rehmannia from Huaiqin (懷慶) is regarded as authentic.  Huai Di Huang (Rehmannia from Huaiqin) has been renowned and treasured for two millennia in Chinese history.  Fresh Rehmannia root is harvested in autumn and processed by steaming and sun-drying for nine times (九蒸九曬).  The property and nature of Raw Rehmannia (Sheng Di Huang) is changed through the Pao Zhi (炮製) processing.  In traditional Chinese medicine, the nature of Cooked Rehmannia is slightly warm, the taste sweet, and it enters Heart, Liver, and Kidney channels.  It is used to tonify and nourish the blood, nourish the Yin, and tonify the essence.  Not only used as single herb, Cooked Rehmannia is also used in many TCM formulas.  In order to pursue premium quality and good efficacy of our products, Sun Ten Pharmaceutical uses the authentic, high quality Cooked Rehmannia from Huaiqin, Henan (it is called Jiaozuo now).  Brion Research Institute of Taiwan (臺灣必安研究所) also utilized HPLC-ELSD and developed a patented lab-testing method to verify if Cooked Rehmannia is properly processed.

Among all the formulas with Cooked Rehmannia, Rehmannia Six Formula (六味地黃丸, Liu Wei Di Huang Wan) is one of the top-selling and commonly used formulas in TCM.  By analyzing its formulation, we can trace it back to the original formula recorded in Master Zhong Jing Zhang’s Jin Gui Yao Lue (張仲景-金匱要略) approximately 1,800 years ago.  Nowadays, we can find a group of Rehmannia Combinations in TCM formula list.  Although they have main herbs in common with different modifications, their medicinal functions and indications are different.
